This is the grades page. Here you will find out information about the grades such as how frequently the gradings take place and how many belts are available. To gain belts in Tae Kwon Do, you must pass a grading. Depending at what stage you are, you will have to complete certain moves in order to successfully pass the grading, as well as learn some theory. This theory is just key phrases and you will be able to purchase a book with all this information in. Before Gradings can take place the minimum training time required from 10th KUP to 1st DAN is 3 years and 6 months. 10th KUP to 4th KUP : 3 months 3rd KUP to 1st DAN : 6 months 1st DAN to 2nd DAN: 2 years 2nd DAN to 3rd DAN : 3 years 3rd DAN to 4th DAN : 4 years 4th DAN to 5th DAN : 5 years 5th DAN to 6th DAN : 6 years In Tae Kwon do there are 6 different colours of belts. These are gained with the passing of each grading. 1. White - this signifies innonence, as that of a beginning student who has no previous knowledge of Tae Kwon Do. 2. Yellow - signifies earth, from which a planet sprouts and takes root as the Tae Kwon Do foundation is being laid. 3. Green - signifies the plants growth, as the Tae Kwon Do skills begin to develop 4. Blue - signifies heaven, toward which the plant matures into a towering tree as training in Tae Kwon Do progresses. 5. Red - signifies danger, cautioning the student so exercise control and warning the opposition to stay away. 6. Black - opposite to white, therefore signifying maturity and profiency in Tae Kwon Do. Also indicates the wearer's imperviuosness to darkness and fear.
